Short Version: If you’re looking for a place to do a buyout whether for a wedding or
corporate event, look no further! We hosted a 140-person wedding by doing a buyout
through Casa Velas and we could not have possibly dreamed of anything better.
Long Version: Where do I even begin? My husband and I got married at Casa Velas
1/20-1/23. We chose Casa Velas because we wanted to be able to rent out an entire
resort for our larger wedding party and for everyone to be in a beautiful, quaint resort
so that it felt like we were all together the entire weekend rather than shuttling
around a large resort. We were also drawn to the fact that the resort focused more
on quality food than quantity and that we still had full access to the beach by their
private beach club, Tau.
This was not a standard small destination wedding, this was a large, 140 person,
Indian/American fusion wedding with 4 days of events. We are 2 weeks out from our
wedding (when I started writing this review) and we can both (along with our families)
say that our wedding weekend was hands down greater than we ever dreamed.
Casa Velas BLEW US AWAY with their ability to bring their staff together and create
the most pleasant, organized and stress-free weekend we could have possibly had.
Geraldine, the General Manager, and Andrea, the wedding coordinator, were our
go-to people from day 1. We completed 2 site visits, one before signing our contract
and one 3 months prior to the wedding to finalize details. Both visits we were met
with nothing but amazing service, hospitality, and kindness. Both visits were very
well planned and both Geraldine and Andrea made sure we were able to see, visit
and taste anything and everything we needed to during our short time so that we
could adequately plan for our large wedding. The staff at Casa Velas makes you feel
right at home, especially during our second visit when they remembered our family
and treated us like just that..family. Not only did they remember us, but we
remembered them as many of them were unforgettable. Carlos, Ramon, Rosie,
Ricardo, Benny, Alfanso, Nabilia, Jesus, Danielle, Noberto... the list goes on.
As mentioned previously, this was not an average wedding. This was a 4 day event
with tons of vendors and extravagant planning done by Jaime Kostechko through
Wild Heart Events. The design and complexity of the wedding was over the top and
something that hadn’t been done at Casa Velas before, but both Geraldine and
Andrea did everything they could and went above and beyond to help assist our
planner and make all of our dreams come true.
Their communication leading up to the wedding was impeccable. Inevitably things
were slower in the beginning secondary to COVID and their team being very busy
with peak wedding season, but in the end, everything was communicated in a timely
fashion for us, our planner and our vendors.
Our wedding weekend consisted of a welcome party, Haldi ceremony, whale tour,
sangeet and finally wedding day ceremony and reception.
Our guests were amazed by all of the details that the staff at Casa Velas helped us
carry out. The wedding weekend was made truly because of their impeccable staff
and their attention to detail, as well as their overall kindness, hospitality, and
generosity.
I could write a novel about all of the details but a few things that stick out to us are:
-The check in process for 140 guests arriving multiple days, all different times and
needing to show proof of covid testing was seamless.
-The COVID precautions were everything we could have asked for and more. Given
our wedding was during peak omicron we were very nervous and wanted to
implement as much precaution as possible. Geraldine worked with us to make sure
all of her staff was tested 24 hours before the start of our event, she graciously had
her team check our guests' negative tests upon arrival, they set up smooth testing
times for guests 1 calendar day prior to departure so that everyone could make it
home stress-free. And of course, all staff was diligent about their masks and face
coverings at all times. This made not only us, but our guests feel much better and
because of that we were able to truly enjoy and relax during our weekend.
-The food preparation and presentation was amazing every day. Not only did the
food look good but it tasted good and was ALWAYS warm. To me, this is the hardest
thing to master for large events, but Casa Velas did it with grace.
-Geraldine worked with us, as she knew how important it was for us to have an
Indian chef/outside Indian restaurant bring in food for various events throughout the
weekend. The Casa Velas team worked seamlessly with the Indian Gate restaurant
to make sure both the non-Indian food and Indian food was equally served and
presented well
-We requested to have our mandap floating over the pool for our wedding ceremony.
This was not an easy task and one that does not come without a ton of safety
checks. Geraldine helped make this dream come true and had everyone’s safety in
mind at all times. She was diligent in talking with vendors and making sure the setup
process was checked, checked again and then 10 more times to assure there were
no issues on our big day.
-Each night after our events Casa Velas made sure there was late night staff for
guests who wanted to continue the party and/or those who needed food after a long
day. The food, even late at night, was incredible and more than we could have ever
asked for.
-At every event there was no waiting for food or drinks, Geraldine and Andrea had an
army of staff for our 140 guests and it truly did make the event go so smoothly.
-On Sunday when many of our guests departed all around the same time we
watched as Geraldine and Andrea single-handedly helped load luggage, flag taxis,
and answer guests' questions/concerns about airport logistics. This was a true
testament to their hospitality and the fact that they are always going above and
beyond for their guests.
-The cleaning services were amazing. Dolores and Jasmine were some of our
cleaning staff and they did an incredible job. I know many of our guests made
comments about how early things were cleaned and tidied up which made a world of
a difference.
-The servers were also amazing. They often stayed late and brought late-night
guests food/drinks etc. with no questions asked. During the day they had nothing but
smiles on their faces and interacted with the guests like they had known them for
years.
This is my second time visiting the resort nd my first working with the wedding team. Because of my irst visit, I KNEW the quality of the room, service and food would be incredible, so I couldn’t wait to experience the wedding end of things.
Andrea, Fernanda and Monserrat were fantastic. They were prompt and attentive before my arrival, during my stay and even upon departure. This wedding team made sure every details was flawless and spoiled me in the meantime.
