I always knew that I wanted to have a destination wedding, it was just a matter of choosing the perfect place. As a family, we've been traveling to the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit every other year for 6 years. That should tell you how much we love the Velas resorts. Our criteria for picking a place to have our destination wedding was that there were crystal clear waters and that the food and service would be amazing. After weighing all of our options, we knew that Grand Velas Riviera Maya would be the perfect place. Since I am well versed in the wedding industry after assisting coordination of several weddings, I had a vision/plan of what I wanted. I am a very detail oriented person and knew exactly what I wanted (just like most girls do). Seeing that I had never visited the Riviera Maya location, I had to let go a bit and trust in the staff to follow through with my vision. I can say hands down that Yazmin, my wedding coordinator at the resort, understood my vision and made sure that came to life on my wedding day. All of our correspondence was via email and phone and with me only going off of pictures on the website to paint the picture of how everything would look. This was understandably a difficult task for someone with my personality, but everything came out perfect! Our wedding party, all 10 of us, arrived on the Wednesday before the Saturday wedding. When arriving in paradise we were greeted by a wonderful staff as well as Yazmin and Carolina, our personal concierge. We wanted to make sure that our guests enjoyed every moment leading up to the wedding. Those of us who have stayed at Grand Velas before tried to explain how good the food and service was prior to arriving in the Mayan Riviera, but I don’t think they quite understood until they experience it for themselves. We heard nothing but complements about the amazing food, service and the sheer beauty of the property from our guests. The resort has so many amenities offered to their guests and we took advantage of the kayaking and snorkeling and had an absolute blast. I couldnt help but to smile as our family hung out in the pool soaking up the sun, enjoying a tropical drink and relaxing with a smile on their faces. As everyone was getting into place, I stood at the start of the bridal walk looking at all the details in awe of how beautiful it actually was. I had not seen the set up until that exact moment. As my father and I walked across the wooden path of the Grand Class pool, two beautiful birds swooped down in front of us like right out of a movie scene. That day, surrounded by my family, I married my best friend and soul mate on the beautiful beach of the Grand Velas. Everybody asks was it everything you ever dreamed of, and I can say without a doubt, it was everything and more. My husband and I were so fortunate to be able to spend the following week here enjoying our honeymoon. We enjoyed waking up each morning and grabbing breakfast at Azul, relaxing with a nice cold drink in our hands by the pool, swimming in the crystal clear ocean, enjoying the most incredible food you could ever imagine, and being pampered by the unbelievable staff that is the best in the world. We will forever be grateful to the staff of the Grand Velas Riviera Maya for making our experience one that we will treasure forever. Anyone that asks us for a recommendation for a resort, we never hesitate to tell everyone about Velas resorts. We look forward to coming back year after year to do it all over again!! I wanted to send you a personal message to communicate what a "Wonderful, Beautiful and Memorable" wedding our familes just experienced at your Grand Velas resort for the Culbreth - Threadgill Wedding on 09.10.11. Your resort was absolutely magnificent; but more importantly, your staff was first class, so accommodating and friendly and your wedding coordinator, Yazmin Perez did a wonderful job for our family. From the very early planning for my daughter's wedding with numerous communications with Karla Aguillon to the details of the wedding, everyone we dealt with was so professional and competent for us. The wedding was everything "and more" and so special for Jamie and Jory.
