Thank you for a Magical Royal Wedding for two! Due to hurricane Odile we had to cancel our wedding plans in Cabo at the last minute. Our airline reservations agent actually suggested we travel to Puerto Vallarta instead and highly recommended Grand Velas Resort Riviera Nayarit. I was put in contact with Geraldine the wedding planner right away. bypassing the customary advance notice of a couple of weeks required. She and her assistant Gabriella put our wedding together in only a few days. She calmed me down and told me not to worry they would take care of everything for us. Their communication with me was constant every step of the way. Upon arriving you will see a huge wizard with their motto, "The Magic Starts Here" and it truly does! We were greeted warmly by Geraldine, Daniela and our Butler/Concierge Hector with a drink and tour of the property. Our Governador suite was not only gorgeous but the perfect place for our wedding ceremony. The team work involved was so finely orchestrated. My big day started by being pampered by Alexa. She styled my hair and did my makeup making me feel like a princess. She even picked flowers from the garden to put in my hair. The local Justice of the Peace performed our ceremony. Her words were so profound and meaningful that she moved us to tears. It was as if she could read into our souls and found the perfect words as she began our wedding service before taking our vows. The love was bouncing off the walls as we recited our vows to each other. Geraldine and Gabriela volunteered to be our witnesses. After spending the week with them before the wedding, they felt like family to us. Such incredibly personal and professional service in every detail. Executive Chef Claudio put together the most incredible 6 course tasting menu especially for us. Not only did the meal taste delicious, but the presentation was so beautiful you would think it was merely something to look at. Works of art in themselves. They didn't stop there. Our wedding dinner wasn't complete without a beautiful cake. After dinner it seemed we floated back to our suite only to find it romantically decorated with little candles and rose petals everywhere, even in the bathtub. Chocolate dipped strawberries and chilled champagne awaited us to continue our celebration. From there on, the surprises just kept coming. We were greeted like celebrities the following evening by Hostess Rosio in Frida. Yet another tasting menu awaited us for my groom's birthday dinner. The sweetest songs were played for us honeymooners bringing us both to tears of joy. As it was my husband's birthday a special birthday cake and balloon decoration was waiting for us in our suite organized by Cheme our butler/concierge. He made sure each and every whim we might have was swiftly executed. Planning our day trip, special drinks, cleaning services, printing out our boarding passes, transportation service to tour the area, transportation to the airport and on and on. During our entire stay it just never stopped. Vania, Reservations Manager, along with the entire team made sure there was not a single hiccup. The grounds are exquisitely manicured and cared for. The restaurants are so tastefully and elegantly decorated....but the PEOPLE are what bring it to life. Yes, THEY give it the magic. You can feel the team spirit, camaraderie, and focus to serve and satisfy their guests. We can hardly wait to come back and spend every anniversary with you! Your love and care superseded every expectation we might have had before arriving. Thank you guys so much for all you did during our stay with you! We will never forget how hard you worked to make this wedding week so special for us! We can still feel the magic!

The wedding itself was nothing short of fabulous. They listened to all the things I wanted and created the look I was going for. My coordinator, Ana Santos, was a pleasure to work with. She was very patient with me, as I'm pretty Type-A. We went off schedule, but she never hurried us along. She was very inconspicuous and had great suggestions. Initially, since it was rainy season, there was a struggle over moving the reception inside. But, I relented and was glad I did. Visually, outside would have been nice, but the temperature never really cools down and there's very little wind so my guests would've been truly melting. Ana's suggestions are to be trusted and I thank her for caring enough to stand her ground. We did the ceremony on the amazing gazebo and the reception in the Tamayo room. All the lighting and drapery was lovely and our table really beautiful. We had so much fun and no one wanted to leave. Everyone kept saying it was one of the best weddings they've been to just because of the experience GVV gave us. Ana also surprised us with an extra upgrade for our wedding night suite. I can't remember the style of the room, but it has the jacuzzi outside and the interior is very dark wood panel. Absolutely amazing with the views! My husband got to get ready for the wedding in that room while I was given a special bridal suite. My ladies and I had sweets and drinks waiting for us when we go to the suite which was lovely. For my wedding night suite, strawberries and champagne. All great touches and unexpected! Our wedding was watched by a lot of other GVV guests and that was really cute. People were clapping and cheering when we got married. We also had a photo shoot the day after in the pool and other guests were kind enough to keep to the sides while we swam. It's like the hotel's hospitality spills over onto the guests themselves. It was so much fun being there and I miss it already! For those who are considering this place for a visit or a wedding, please highly consider Grand Velas. The service, rooms, and food are top-notch and amazing. They really care and are extremely considerate and professional. I can't say enough about this place. We all had a great time and hope to return in the future. Big shouts to Ana Santos, Karla Aguillon, the spa staff, and Alexa, my hair stylist!
