May 7th, 2011 Wedding Testimonial By, Laura Fresquez-Bird From the moment Alex and I arrived at Grand Velas we were sure we had made the right choice for our wedding. It was as if a weight had been lifted, and we knew we were in really good hands. The hotel itself is spacious, yet intimate with clean modern design. The turquoise Ocean and vibrant flowers set the perfect backdrop for our wedding weekend. The wedding planners met with us on our first day and had an organized rundown of our whole wedding. That was followed by a meeting the next day with all of the departments involved in our event. We truly felt that they had everything under control and we were able to really enjoy our time with family and friends. We found out quickly that the food at Grand Velas is truly exceptional; from the fresh and varied breakfast buffets to the four star dinners at their numerous and diverse restaurants. Even the snacks on the beach were a step above anything we’ve had before. We highly recommend setting up an intimate dinner at Piaf, the French restaurant, which still has our families talking. The day of our wedding, I was asked several times about nerves, but in fact, I felt truly happy and calm thanks to the staff at Grand Velas. I spent a couple of hours in the amazing spa where I got a manicure/pedicure and had my hair done for the wedding. The stylist looked at my photos and was able to create just what I wanted. The level of pampering and service at the spa really prepared me for the evening ahead. Our room faced the ocean and the beach where our wedding was to take place. While I was getting dressed I could see the altar in the sand and hear the music that would be played during our ceremony. We had the sunshine and the sea; it was everything that I had always dreamed it would be. It was a truly magical and memorable moment. Our wedding planners had everything running so smoothly. I knew it would be an incredible walk along the path to my soon to be husband. So, with the music playing and my parents by my side, I walked toward the beach with an uncontrollable smile. Our photographer was there capturing every moment. Seeing my friends and family seated on that beautiful beach with Alex at the alter was the moment when all of the choices we made came together. When we stepped under the flower covered altar we were able to share our vows and love with the guests who had come so far to support our marriage. After the ceremony we all enjoyed the beauty of the beach. I kicked off my shoes and danced in the sand with my new family. The sun was starting to set over the ocean when we took most of our photos. Now they are forever with us, and so is our unbelievable wedding. The reception was filled with music and more of the amazing food we had come to know as a regular party of staying at Grand Velas. All of the guests raved about the ceremony as they danced the night away beside the Master Pool. I wish I could say our guests stayed dry, but many of them finished the night by running into the pool during our last song. The event was perfection from start to finish. The staff took the best care in planning every detail. I highly recommend that you have your wedding at Grand Velas. It’s the kind of place and experience that you and your guests will always remember. It was pure perfection and we are already looking for a reason to go back. Thank You Grand Velas!

Once our travel agent recommended Grand Velas as the best resort in Riviera Maya, we started planning our wedding and never looked back. With a few email exchanges our wedding ceremony was finalized and it was everything we could have imagined. Fabulous photography, out-of-this-world spa for hair and makeup, amazing beaches, wonderful food, and a caring staff. Every need we had was fulfilled it was the wedding and honeymoon of our dreams.
